This 2-part workshop will help you understand the basic patterns used to write strong paragraphs and essays.

Learn to identify the main idea in written text, and write an organized, reasoned response in a paragraph or an essay.

We will discuss:

• tips for writing a good paragraph
• how to write a strong opening paragraph, or "thesis statement" for an essay
• how to organize your ideas and supporting evidence
• how to write a strong closing or "conclusion" paragraph
• what the difference is between "fact" and "opinion"references and citations
